As soon as the House assembled, DMK member Kanimozhi and SP MP Jaya Bachchan raised the matter and drew attention toward crime against women and children. The child was allegedly kidnapped and raped by her 28-year-old neighbour in outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy on Sunday.
Kanimozhi said, “This is not the only incident of rape happening in the country...we are not very sensitive to such acts.” She demanded stricter laws to deal with such cases.
Taking up the issue forcefully, Bachchan said she had sought a discussion on such incidents in the past sessions but her notices weren’t admitted.
“We discuss all kinds of atrocities but not those concerning women,” she said, demanding a discussion.
“Ensure that very stringent (and) strict action is taken,” he said and asked the government to inform of its action in the case.
Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien asked the SP member to give a fresh notice for discussion. He also asked the government to take strict action against the guilty.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the government strongly condemned the incident and would take strict action against the guilty.
