‘We are Burhan’ marked on slain militants’ rifles

‘We are Burhan’ was scribbled on the rifles of five foreign militants, who were killed by security forces on the LoC in Uri on August 15, while they tried to cross the border and enter the Valley.
The army displayed the bodies of the five militants on Tuesday along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition, which it said was recovered from them. There were scribblings in Urdu and English on the straps of the militants’ AK-47 rifles, including the tag “WE R BURHAN H-M”.
“The quantity of explosives and ammunition recovered indicated that they (slain militants) were planning a big attack on high value civilian or military installations,” Brigadier JS Nain said.
The Brigadier said that the militants probably aimed to come into the limelight by attacking high-profile areas. “They were in combat gear and tried to infiltrate in the morning (of August 15) at the same time when there was an attack in Srinagar. Their timing indicated they wanted to come into limelight and create a big spectacle (in media),” Nain said
Immediately after Wani’s death, terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen announced its resurrection.
Wani has not only entered the conscience of militants but also that of a section of Kashmir’s youth. People from the Valley have taken to social media to eulogise the slain militant and have also made anti-India graffiti across Kashmir.
