The Noida authority will use live videography and photography to monitor residential, industrial and institutional areas to stop parking on roads and other public places, which leads to traffic congestion on city roads.

The decision was taken in a three-hour-long meeting held by Noida authority chairman Pravir Kumar on Monday in his sector 6 office.

One of the main reasons for growing congestion is parking on roads, service lanes and other public spaces meant for pedestrians. Hence, the chairman decided to take stern legal action against any resident, industrialist or any other person caught repeatedly not using his/her building garage or designated parking space and parking vehicles on the road or allowing others to do so. The action would include losing residential or industrial plot allotment.

“I have instructed installation of cameras on top of towers at specific locations where congestion is a big issue and is troubling motorists or residents of the area. Once we have video evidence with us, we will have a meeting with the person found breaking norms to convince them to not violate the rules. On repeated violations, legal action under prevailing laws will be taken,” said Kumar.

According to officials, residents, MNCs, BPOs, small industrial units and other offices do not use the space in their building reserved for parking.

“The authority will issue notices if a resident or building owner is not adhering to the norms even after verbal instructions. Allotment of residential or corporate plot of repeated offenders will be cancelled,” said another official.
