Officials said the objective of making these committees is to ensure they constantly monitor the progress of projects and ensure builders adhere to the schedule they gave to the authorities.

“Each two-member committee will be assigned some housing projects for monitoring the progress in work. These committees will regularly submit project monitoring reports to the CEO. If the work doesn’t progress on site as promised, the authority will take strict action against the builders,” said Santosh Kumar, officer on special duty of the Noida authority and head of the group housing department.

After mass protests by aggrieved homebuyers, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on September 12 directed the three industrial authorities of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development to ensure builders deliver promised flats to buyers. Subsequently, chiefs of all authorities directed builders to submit their delivery plan, and sent time-bound delivery reports to the state government.

There are 94 stuck housing projects in Noida affecting a total of 78,000 homebuyers who have been unable to take possession of their flats because the housing projects are running behind schedule by four to seven years. Builders’ cite fund crisis as a reason for the delay but homebuyers allege they have diverted funds.

Authority CEO Tandon has decided to hold a progress review meeting with builders on October 3.

“The CEO will assign housing projects to committees for monitoring and ask builders for an action plan on delivery of their stuck housing projects,” Kumar said.
