Noida child hospital officials want cops staying in nurses’ accommodation evicted

The chief medical superintendent of the Super Specialty Child Hospital and Post Graduate Institute (SSCHPGI) shot off a missive to the chief executive officer of the Noida authority, district magistrate and senior superintendent of police in the district seeking the eviction of three police personnel who have been illegally occupying nurses’ hostel on the campus.

Nurses raised concerns about their safety and refused to stay in the tower. They are occupying the flats in tower 6, which is meant for other administrative staff.

The police personnel have continued to occupy the flats despite repeated pleas to the UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd to get the units vacated.

“We have written several times to the Nirman Nigam officials to hand over the possession of tower 8 (nurses’ hostel) without any encumbrance. Now, we have written to their managing director and also informed the senior officials concerned,” Dr AK Bhatt, the director of SSCHPGI, said.

The letter from the chief medical superintendent of SSCHPGI mentions that the presence of the three personnel could also result in an untoward incident.

“They feel unsafe due to the presence of the police. They have been provided accommodation in tower 6, which is above their entitlement and meant for the administrative staff of the institute,” an administration department official said.

The official alleged that the notices directing the illegal occupants to vacate the flats that were put up in the nurses’ hostel have been removed by the police.

Dr Bhatt said that he will take up the issue with the chief secretary. “I have a meeting with the chief secretary, who happens to be the chairman of our institute, on March 6. I will apprise him of the situation as it is unsafe for our nursing staff to have outsiders in the hostel,” he said.
