Woman takes Ola cab from Noida, alleges rape by driver’s friend

The woman alleged that the two men consumed beer on the way after which the driver took her to the thickets around the Dayanagar village.

A woman employee of a private firm in Noida in Uttar Pradesh has accused an Ola cab driver’s accomplice of raping her in Greater Noida after she booked a ride.

The driver along with his accomplice was arrested on Friday, police said.

The woman told the police that around 4.30 pm on Thursday she booked an Ola cab from Sector 37 in Noida to go to the adjoining Greater Noida area.

There was a man along with the driver on the front seat of the car when they started the ride, she told the police. The driver, Ashok, told her that the man was his friend, Praveen, who was to be dropped on the way.

The woman alleged that the two men consumed beer on the way after which the driver took her to the thickets around the Dayanagar village. The driver then left her there with his friend who raped her and fled, she added in her statement.

The woman briefly lost consciousness after the attack and when she came to her senses, she raised an alarm. With the help of the villagers, the woman said she reached the nearest police station to file a complaint.

Circle Officer of Dadri Nishank Sharma said a case was registered late on Thursday and the cab driver and his accomplice were arrested soon after.

The police have sent the woman for a medical examination.
