Olympics is the pinnacle of competitive sports; the best, fastest, strongest all converge, to strut their stuff and win the gold medal. Hence, it is not surprising that possibly the world’s fittest couple too would in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Meet the Eatons; US decathlete Ashton Eaton and his wife Canadian heptathlete Brianne Theisen-Eaton. Decathlon and heptathlon, or any multi-sport discipline for that matter, is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires supreme overall fitness; one has to be fast, strong and agile to even attempt a discipline that involves sprint, endurance running, jumping and throwing.
And In Ashton Eaton, the defending Olympics champion, you get the fittest among the fittest. The American is the world record holder in decathlon, and runs his 100m and 400m at a pace that could make him the champion in many of the strong athletics-focussed nations.

To be able to do all of that -- that is to compete in 100 metres, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 metres on Day One and then 110 metres hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1500 metres on Day Two --- one obviously has to train hard, and have a strong will power.

Beside this highly successful man is a successful woman named Brianne. A world indoor champion in pentathlon, she holds the Canadian record in the Olympic discipline of heptathlon. She tested the waters in London 2012, and in Rio would be going for the yellow metal.
She met Ashton at the University of Oregon, the alma mater for the some of the best athletes in the world, while the two were there under sports scholarship.
