Rai had a slow start in the 10m event and shot 580, a poor score by his standard, to be ranked sixth in qualification round. He continued to struggle in the final.
Rai would be looking to be sharp of the blocks on Wednesday and make it into the final, carrying forward the momentum.
The Olympic debutant, had won at the Asian Games gold (Incheon 2014) as well as the Commonwealth Games (Glasgow 2014) in the 50 m event.
