The Indian junior men’s hockey team won its third match of the Sultan of Johor Cup, outclassing USA 22-0 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on Wednesday.

In what turned out to be a goal fest, India scored their 22 goals through 10 different players, climbing to the top of the points table with nine from the three matches. Harmanjit Singh (25’, 26’, 40’, 45’, 52’), Abhishek (28’, 37’, 38’, 45’), Vishal Antil (2’, 30’, 44’), Dilpreet Singh (3’, 54’, 59’), Maninder Singh (42’, 43’), Pratap Lakra (2’), Rabichandra Moirangthem (7’), Raushan Kumar (37’), Shilanand Lakra (47’) and Vivek Prasad (48’) scored as India attacked the US goalmouth in waves.

The scoring spree started in the 2nd minute of the match when two goals were scored. The inexperience of USA meant that India dominated the proceedings throughout the match, scoring four goals inside the first quarter.

In the second quarter, four more goals were scored by India, who were giving game-time to all the 18 squad members. India went into half-time leading 8-0.

India turned on the heat in the third quarter as well, scoring nine goals in 15 minutes -- sublime finishing entertaining the crowd thoroughly. India didn’t show any signs of holding back and scored five more goals in the final quarter to round things off at 22.

USA had conceded a total of 30 goals in their first two games -- Australia beat them 19-0 and Great Britain 11-0. India, on the other hand, will take the win as good preparation for their tough upcoming matches against Australia and Great Britain.

India will now face Australia in their fourth match on Thursday.
