Asian Games winner Mane passes away

Asian Games gold medal winner and former Rajyasabha MP Maruti Mane passed away today at a hospital in Miraj due to prolonged illness, family sources said. He was 73.

Asian Games gold medal winner and former Rajyasabha MP Maruti Mane passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in Miraj due to prolonged illness, family sources said. He was 73.

Mane had tasted success at international level and had made a name for himself in India by winning the Hind Kesari title in 1964.

Prior to that, he had won gold medal in the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. He was also awarded with the Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar and the Dhyanchand Award by the Maharashtra government and the Delhi government respectively in 2005.
