With no glove that fits, Amrita sweats it out

But there is something amiss - Anand feels her game is slipping away, literally. "Maybe it's because I use a hard grip and my fingernails dig into my palms, but of late, my hands have been slipping a lot," says Anand, who finished fourth in her category in the Albatross International Junior Golf Championship, which ended on Saturday at the Jaypee Greens. "Of course, I sweat more because I don't wear a glove."
While not compulsory, gloves are recommended especially in hot and humid conditions, to prevent sweat from hindering one's grip.
But unlike others, Anand does not have the option of wearing them. Reason? The glove is worn on the top hand, which for a right-handed golfer like her is the left. But Anand has an extra digit on her left hand.
While the sixth finger does not force her to do anything different when it comes to holding the club, the sweaty palm is a problem.
Well, according to her. Her coach Amit Dube, however, does not agree. "True, sweat becomes a factor in the heat. But till about a year back, she never had slippery hands, so why now?" he asks. "I think it's simply because she has not changed the rubber grips on her clubs in a long time now."
