After pulling off an unprecedented landslide victory in the assembly elections in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has emphasised improvement of law and order and on pursuing all cases of kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crime for speedy trial.
"We have to ensure full confidence of the people, specially the poor, through effective and vibrant policing," Director General of Police Neelmani, who held a meeting with top police officials on Thursday and apprised them of Kumar's resolve, said today.
"We have also to check crime on wheels and damage to Railway property by ensuring full safety to the passengers passing through the state or coming to Bihar," he said adding police would have to be more vigilant and alert.
Kumar, he said, had spelt out his prorities on the law and order front during the first meeting of his second tenure with senior police officials on Monday.
The state police would set up the first river police station at Kachchi Dargah near Deedarganj in Patna city.
The police station would become operational in 15 days and four more such police station would come up at Bhagalpur, Bagaha, Supaul and Buxar soon, he said adding altogether 18 such police stations would be set up across Bihar.
