Chief minister Nitish Kumar just might have given his opponents an opportunity to have a go at him. On Thursday, he went to the native village of a party MLA, who is being tried for murder, kidnapping and extortion, to condole the death of his brother.

Sachchidanand Singh, alias Fajo Singh, brother of Janata Dal-United MLA Anant Singh, was shot dead on Wednesday. Fajo, like his brother, had a number of criminal cases pending against him. Anant, also referred to as Chhote Sarkar, has over two dozen criminal cases against him.

The CM's visit comes at a time when there is a lot of anger against politicians across the country following the November 26 terror strikes in Mumbai.

The visit has once again brought to light the criminal-politician nexus in Bihar. The Kumar-led JDU-BJP alliance came to power as the people in the state were not unhappy with the law and order situation.

Accompanied by party state unit chief Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the CM attended Fajo’s cremation as well.
