Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ramvilas Paswan on Friday called a state-wide "chakka jam" on January 28 coinciding with the Bihar bandh called by his RJD counterpart, Lalu Prasad, to press against price rise and alleged corruption in the state.

Talking to reporters in Patna, Paswan said his party would enforce "chakka jam" on that day for which he was on a tour of Bihar to mobilise support.
Essential services would be kept out of purview of the "chakka jam" programme, he said.
The agitation was called to protest against skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and the state's NDA government's alleged failure to act against the hoarders and blackmarketeers, besides alleged corruption in various centrally-sponsored welfare schemes, including NREGA prevailing in Bihar, Paswan said.
Other demands included appointment of dalit women as ASHA workers, particularly from Ravidas community, and regularisation of their services, besides pressing for relief for drought-hit people, he said.
