A motorcycle-borne criminal shot at and injured an owner of a pathology laboratory at Line Bazar locality under town police station of Purnia district, about 368 kms north-east of Patna on Tuesday morning.

The injured, Manthan Kumar Sinha, 30, was undergoing treatment at a private health facility. He was reported to be out of danger.

Sinha said a man came to his centre posing as a patient who wanted to get his blood test done. “He shot at me from close range while I was writing down his particulars. Luckily, the bullet left grazing my shoulder,” said Sinha.

Police suspect the incident to be an outcome of business rivalry.

Station House Officer (SHO), additional town police station, Menka Rani, said: “We are looking into the matter and the criminal will be nabbed soon.”
