Bihar registration and excise minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav announced the inquiry, in the state assembly on Thursday.

He was replying to BJP legislator Vinod Narayan Jha, who had claimed in the house that around 525 documents of land registration deeds, mostly related to fodder scam, had gone missing from the Patna registry office.

The minister, however, did not confirm whether or not the documents had actually gone missing. “ It would be wrong to say for now the documents have gone missing,” he said

He claimed that the registration papers were sent to different circle officers in Patna district for various formalities and had not been returned.

“The district magistrate, Patna, has been asked to retrieve all the documents from the circle officers immediately and also conduct a probe into the matter. In case of any irregularity, action would be taken against the guilty,” he said.

RJD MLAs sought to disrupt the house proceedings by trooping into the well, allegedly because their party chief and former chief minister Lalu Prasad was an accused in the scam.

Sanjay Saraogi, a BJP MLA, demanded a CBI probe into the missing papers.
