"The strength of the Congress has increased substantially which is evident from the massive response to the election meetings," Khurshid told reporters here.

He said the party expected "a rich electoral harvest" after the campaign to be spearheaded by AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on the pattern of Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha polls.

"Rahul's charisma will be at work in Bihar this time," he said, adding the huge rush for securing party nominations also proved his claim beyond doubt.

Taking on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his claims of development, Salman said Nitish has only "shifted Bihar to general ward from Intensive Care Unit."

"Congress is the only party which is above politics of caste considerations and have a long experience on the issue of development," he said, adding development would remain the main plank this election.

Khurshid also expressed happiness over his party giving good representation to Muslims and people below 40 years of age in distribution of party tickets.

"We are surprised to see that a case has been lodged against our Gopalganj nominee Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav, charging him with violating model code of conduct for elections," he said, adding "we failed to comprehend that whether mere parking of vehicles outside the house of a candidate on the charge of which the case has been registered in Gopalganj is violative of the code."
