“Former minister in the erstwhile Rabri Devi government Ravindra Charan Yadav will be our nominee for Madhepura,” Prasad told PTI.

The announcement for the seat was pending as the party had been awaiting the court verdict on a petition filed by its sitting MP from Madhepura Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav seeking stay on his conviction in the CPI-M MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case.

The court had on Friday refused to suspend his conviction in the case.

JD(U) president Sharad Yadav is contesting from the seat from where he had lost to the RJD chief in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. Prasad had, however, vacated Madhepura after he won the other Chapra seat. Pappu Yadav had then won the seat in the by-election.
