On Monday - as India celebrated 75 years of independence - Border Security Force troops and Army soldiers marked the occasion at the Attari-Wagah border crossing with Pakistan. The two exchanged sweets to commemorate the milestone. This border crossing is also where the daily 'Beating the Retreat' ceremony takes place with pomp and precision as soldiers from both countries march in perfect drill, going through the steps of bringing down their respective national flags. As the sun goes down, nationalistic fervour rises and lights are switched on marking the end of the day amidst thunderous applause.
