The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that India received 99 mm of pre-monsoon rain between March 1 and May 31 — a deficiency of 25%. “This has been the second driest pre-monsoon season in the last 65 years,” according to Skymet Weather report. It is, however, unclear whether Amit Shah, 54, who took over as Union home minister after the BJP returned to power last month, will retain or relinquish his national president role until the elections are completed in six months.
