Photos: Canadian troupe Cirque du Soleil debuts in India

Cirque du Soleil, the Canadian troupe known for its unique acts brings its larger-than-life production values to Mumbai, from where it will travel to Delhi making its debut in India. Two Indians, quite a bit of mallakhamb, aerial hoops and suspension acts are among the thrills to watch out for. From the invite-only preview held on Sunday the audience feedback said that it was a fantastic circus act, but not the greatest Cirque show. For now, at least 49 shows are planned across the two cities over 34 performance days between November 15 and January 6.

He had watched a Cirque show a few years ago, in Montreal and the scale there was much larger, but according to him the production in Mumbai is worth watching. Still, it’s a rare opportunity to see the troupe live, and tickets — priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 12,500 — are being snapped up online.
