Photos: Rain continues to lash Chennai, schools shut as flooding persists

Various low lying areas in Chennai remained inundated by flood waters from the Northeast monsoon for the 5th consecutive day. 74% of the rain expected during the entire season has been recorded in the first week itself.

A couple crosses the water logged service road near the Marina beach during downpour in Chennai. Water logging in previous days has been reported in Anna Nagar, Vadapalani, West Mambalam, T Nagar, Ashok Nagar junction, Nandanam, Mogappair, Ambattur, Perambur, Mudichur, and Perangalathur.
