A 22-year-old man was killed while his friend was injured after an unidentified person attacked them with a knife near Sakal Nagar bus stop along Baner road. The incident happened around 6.30 am on Monday morning when the deceased was having breakfast, according to police officials.

The deceased was identified as Akhtar Ismail Khan, while his injured friend was identified as Kareem Kadar Sayyed (26), according to information received by police. The deceased was having breakfast and tea at the local Siddhi Vinayak snacks centre with two of his friends when they accidentally bumped into a man, who got out of an auto, after which they got into a verbal fight. The man drew a knife and attacked Khan’s left hand before attacking his torso and killing him.
The third person of the trio, Amjad Nadaf (30), filed a complaint at Chaturshringi police station and a case under Section 302, 307 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered.
