A case against an official of an international fast food chain has been registered at Chatuhshrungi police station for endangering the lives of customers on Sunday.

The complaint was filed after a section of the roof of the establishment, collapsed on Sunday. A child sustained minor injuries.

Prajesh Thakur, 13, was at the fast food joint to celebrate his younger sister’s birthday along with his parents and 16 of her friends, when the incident took place.

The staff of the establishment were nonchalant about the incident, the child’s parents alleged.

“When we raised the issue with them, they responded saying that the reason the roof collapsed was because they were undertaking maintenance work,” said Ranjit Kumar Thakur, 42, Prajesh’s father.

Prajesh, a Class 8 student at Daffodils school was rushed to Jupiter hospital in Baner.

A case under Section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of Indian Penal Code was registered at Chatuhshrungi police station. Head constable Datta Shivaji is investigating the case.
