Two students from the Nashik sub-center of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have been taken into custody by the Nashik cyber crime cell, for having hacked the university website to get access to the mathematics examination paper.

On April 28, the second year BSC linear algebra paper was reported to have been leaked from the Nashik center of the university. Following the investigation by a committee appointed by vice chancellor Nitin Karmalkar and headed by VB Gaikwad, two engineering students were found to be guilty of hacking the website and leaking the question papers. According to sources, the linear algebra paper was for 40 marks and the leaked papers were allegedly sold for ₹1,500 each.
Taking cognisance of the matter, SPPU on Monday stated, “When paper leak case was investigated by the appointed committee, 2 persons were found responsible for the same. As it was an electronic media leak, a case has been registered with the cyber crime cell of Nashik. Further investigations were be done by the cyber cell. The website however, is working as usual. Any further information about the case will be communicated after the appointed committee submits its findings and full report.”
