Two women, 4-yr-old drown in Pune’s Mula-Mutha river, child’s body recovered
Loni Kalbhor police station incharge Kranti Kumar Patil said that the victims had stepped into the river waters for washing clothes on a stone placed at the bank.
Three members of a Nepalese family, including two women and a four-year-old, drowned in Mula-Mutha river in Loni Kalbhor area when they were washing clothes near the river bank.

According to the Loni Kalbhol police, the incident happened at around 3 pm on Monday. The victims have been identified as Chandrakala Raju Bhool (30), Bhajan Bharatsingh Raju Bhool (19) and Sonia Raju Bhool (4).
According to the statement given to the police by Bharat Singh Birbahadur Bhool (60), an elder from the victims’ family, his daughter-in-law Chandrakala, daughter Bhajan and granddaughters Sonia and Anisha Shankar Bhool (11) had gone to wash clothes near the crematorium on the bank of Mula-Mutha river. However, the trio got swept away in the river current and Anisha ran home to alert the family. The police were immediately informed and a team of senior officials attached to Loni Kalbhor police station rushed to the spot and started search operations.
Loni Kalbhor police station incharge Kranti Kumar Patil said that the victims had stepped into the river waters for washing clothes on a stone placed at the bank. “What happened later could not be ascertained though we have information that the two women and a child were swept away in the river current and were feared drowned. We have roped in villagers and divers and search operations are on to find the missing,” said Patil.
An accidental death case has been lodged at the police station. The rural fire brigade officials are assisting the police in the search operations.
