14 lakh voters to exercise franchise in Sangrur

Nearly 14.23 lakh voters of the district will exercise their franchise at 1,541 polling stations in the Lok Sabha election slated to be held on April 30.

Addressing mediapersons here, on Wednesday, Sangrur deputy commissioner Indu Malhotra and SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that the model code of conduct has been effected in the district immediately after the declaration of the dates of the polls.

The deputy commissioner said she has already held a meeting of representatives of all political parties and sought their cooperation for smooth conduct of the polls and implementation of the code of conduct.

On security arrangements, SSP Sidhu said that the district police was ready to enforce the model code of conduct. The normal policing will continue in the district and direction will soon be issued for the submission of arms.
