250 dogs participate in dog show

The Patiala Kennel Club on Sunday organised its 40th and 41st all breed championship dog shows at Raja Bhalendra Singh Stadium (Polo Grounds) here.

A souvenir of the show was also released on the occasion. Eminent dog lovers and judges, Philip John from Chennai and N Radhakrishnan from Mumbai, judged the show in which a total of 250 dogs from 35 breeds participated. As many as 46 imported dogs also took part in the show.

Exhibitors from Lucknow, Delhi, Meerut, Kolkota, Jaipur, Agra and Jammu participated in the show. A large number of Rottweiler (38), Labrador (25) , German Shephred (25), Pug (21) and Beagle (10) dogs were seen in the show.

It was in this part of the country that the first kennel club, the Northern India Kennel Club, was formed which was later changed into Indian Kennel Association in 1896.
