62-year-old killed in accident due to fog

Due to the dense fog, a 62-year- old pedestrian was killed in Patiala on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kirpal Singh (62), a retired panchayat secretary and resident of village Simbro.
The incident happened at around 5.30 am, when the victim was on his morning walk on the link road of Simbro village and Bakshiwala. According to family members, the victim was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the road.
Dilbagh Singh, nephew of the victim, said that his uncle went for morning walk. He added that a villager informed them about the incident at around 6.30 am.
The police said that a villager passing through the road first witnessed the victim lying on the roadside. He informed the police and then rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kuldeep Singh said that during the preliminary investigation it has found to be a hit and run case. He added that the investigation reveals that the accident happened due to dense fog in the morning.
Meanwhile, postmortem report reveals death caused due to internal bleeding. The report further suggests that the vehicle involved in the accident was being driven beyond the speed limit.
Meanwhile, the police said that family refused to register a case in this regard
