SAD-BJP candidate from the Patiala constituency Deepinder Singh Dhillon has termed the response which AAP leaders are receiving in the area as "hoax".
Addressing the press conference, Dhillon, who was accompanied by cabinet minister Surjit Singh Rakhra, said AAP had no scope in the state, including Patiala, and would remain ineffective in all parliamentary constituencies.
AAP candidate from Patiala, Dr Dharamvir Gandhi has been receiving good response not only in Patiala city but in the villages situated in different assembly segments across the constituency.
"AAP has no base in Punjab and the experiment which proved successful in New Delhi may become a failure in the state and in Patiala as well" Dhillon said.
Meanwhile, speaking about the absence of former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh from Patiala constituency, as he is fighting elections from Amritsar, Dhillon said it would give a boost to the SAD-BJP campaign as former CM would not be available for his wife Preneet Kaur's canvassing. "We are putting best efforts to be victorious this time", he said. Lambasting incumbent MP Preneet Kaur, Dhillon she had not fulfilled any of her promises.
He was uncomfortable when asked about his close association with Preneet and the Congress for 12 years. Dhillon joined SAD in 2012. Mayor Amarinder Bajaj and former mayor Ajitpal Singh Kohli, which remained in the news for their cold war, avoided eye contact with each other on the occasion.
Later, when asked about their sour relationship, both of them shook hands and hugged each other before senior leaders. However, for how long, the relations between the two will remain cordial, remains to be seen.
