There are around a hundred farmers of both these villages, who have been crossing the river by endangering their lives, to take care of their agrarian land—which is across the river—by using improvised and home-made boats. which are not safe to cross the river.

While handing over the boats to the villages’ panchayats, the member of Parliament said he had spent around Rs 11 lakh from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund for the purchase of the boats.

He said by using the boats, the farmers of both villages will now cross the river without endangering their lives in improvised boats. He said the farmers can also take along with them their tractors and other agriculture equipment on the boats for their lands’ cultivation while crossing the river.

He said earlier, farmers of both the villages used to cross the river to cultivate their land by using improvised boats.

“Till now, I have provided such boats to around four villages of Ajnala tehsil, which falls near the river,” the Member of Parliament said.
