Attack on property dealer: One more arrested with pistol, sickle

The police also recovered .315 bore pistol and a sharp-edged weapon (sickle) from his possession.

In a press conference, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (North) BIS Kahlon, SHO police station-8 Bimal Kant added that before the attack on Lalli, he along with accused Hardeep Singh Shota Kala of Chhoti Baradari (arrested on August 31), Bablu of Boota Mandi and others held a meeting at his office and orchestrated the crime.
The ACP said that Kamalpreet is already facing five different criminal cases and is on bail.
He told that a group of car-borne men had attacked Lalli with swords and sickles in full public view at Lamba Pind Chowk on the busy Kishanpura road in Santokhpura.
The victim, who also owns a tavern at Lamba Pind Chowk, was jailed in an attempt to murder case in 2014, before getting bail in December 2015.
His wife Kuldeep Kaur said Kala, who was also in jail at that time, had a scuffle with her husband. Lalli reportedly slapped him in front of other inmates. Kuldeep said Kala had been threatening her husband after coming out of the jail recently.
When Lalli was on his way to the court for a hearing on August 31, Kala, Kamalpreet, and his aides allegedly waylaid him. Witnesses said Lalli fell off his bike after one of the two cars of the assailants hit him.
A case had been booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of an offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
