Beant Singh’s death anniv: Capt, Bhattal give Congress function a miss

The party also held programmes at district headquarters to mark the leader’s 21st death anniversary.

A function was also organised at the Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh, where the party leaders garlanded his bust and offered floral tributes.

Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Rajya Sabha members Partap Bajwa and Ambika Soni skipped gave the function a miss.

The party leaders also lashed out at the Akalis and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who, they said, had gone into hiding and left Punjabis to their own fate. The leaders said, it was only the Congress which had always been on the forefront when it came to saving the unity and integrity of the country.
