Talking to Hindustan Times, Bhagwant Mann said, "Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal should have applied his energy and efforts to solve the problem of power shortage in Punjab, instead of wasting his energy for seeking a cabinet berth for his party art the Centre. The AAP has also decided to intensify the protest at the state level if the government failed to improve the power supply to domestic and agriculture sectors immediately".

"For the past couple of days, I have been receiving phone calls from every nook and corner of Punjab against the poor electricity supply, now we have decided to gherao grids in the state and women and children, who are suffering from long power cuts, will also join the protest," he added.
Earlier, before leaving from Delhi to participate in the protest, Mann also made an appeal to the people of Sangrur on the Facebook, requesting them to make the protest successful to awaken the Punjab government.

Leading a protest in the city, Youth Congress general secretary Poonam Kangra alleged that by imposing long unscheduled power cuts, the Badal government was taking a revenge from people for not voting for the SAD-BJP candidates in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

She said as the Badal government has failed to ensure sufficient electricity and water supply to the people of the state, it has lost the moral right to remain in power.
