Family of Ashutosh, whose original name is Mahesh Jha, led by his son Dalip Jha on Friday morning reportedly met Nitish at the latter's official residence in Patna. As per Dalip, Nitish Kumar made a telephone call to Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal asking him to intervene in the matter.

"The Bihar CM has also written to his Punjab counterpart to express solidarity with the demand raised by us about handing over the body of Ashutosh to us," said Jha, while talking to Hindustan Times from Patna.

The family claims that Nitish has also assured the family to provide all possible help citing it a matter related to pride of all residents of Bihar.

"We were told by the Bihar CM that Badal has termed it a highly sensitive religious matter but has assured to provide all possible help. The Bihar CM will also send his special envoy to Punjab soon to take up our case with the government," said Ashutosh's son.

However, all efforts to confirm the development from the Bihar CM's official residence proved futile as no official was available to comment on it.
