As top leaders from various political parties gathered at the condolence meet of later CPI leader Satya Pal Dang, the Akali-BJP leadership was found absent. The condolence meeting organised in a private resort on the Amritsar-Attari Road, was attended by thousands of people and senior leaders from CPI, Congress party and PPP.

Stressing that Dang lived for others and helping the downtrodden remained his top priority, senior CPI leader AB Bardhan said: "A close look into the life of Dang couple shows the mission they lived with. It was just to work for others and raise voice against the wrongdoings in the system." It is time that we all must work in the direction Satya Pal Dang did to contribute to society, he added.
Similarly, Punjab Congress Chief Partap Bajwa while paying rich tributes to veteran leader, said, "Dang was a movement himself within the left movement. Dang was a relentless fighter and 'Massiah' of the poor and the downtrodden. The couple fought hard against communal forces during the peak of terrorism when many political leaders had vanished from scene."
"Fundamentalist forces have been ruling Punjab for the last seven years and Punjab was lagging behind in all spheres. All secular forces need to come together to defeat communal forces. It was duty of secular political parties to protect the nation from falling in the hands of communal elements. Punjab must take lead in it and it will be true tribute to late Satya Pal Dang," added Bajwa.
Also present, Joginder Dayal, member central executive of the CPI said, "Satya Pal Dang belonged to the whole mankind, as he always worked for the equal rights of all. He proved himself as honest and efficient administrator. His life was full of patriotism and he played a great role to eradicate terrorism from the state by playing the leading role from Amritsar".
Dayal mentioned that it was need of the hour that today's generation learns from the life and sacrifice of both Satya Pal Dang and his wife late Vimla Dang.
PPP chief Manpreet Badal and Senior Congress leader Jagmeet Brar also lauded the way Dang couple fought for the needy and stressed that the life of Satya Pal Dang had a great meaning and it was needed to follow his footsteps.
Congress MLA OP Soni said, "Satya Pal Dang was an institution in himself and worked throughout his life without any personal motive. Dang remained MLA and even minister but always remained grounded and never left his connect with the issues and problems of common man."
All India Anti-Terrorist Front chairman, Maninderjit Bitta, Congress MLAs Dr Raj Kumar Verka, former Congress MLAs Jugal Kishore Sharma, Darbari Lal, former Mayor Sunil Dutti and state leadership of the CPI, including former MLA Hardev Arshi were also present during the meeting.
