Couple among 3 killed in Fazilka mishap

A journalist and his wife were among three people killed when their car collided with a canter near Jalalabad in Fazilka district on late Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Pawan Dhuria, 43, who was working with a vernacular newspaper, his wife Subhgya (43) and friend Ashok Madaan (46), all residents of Fazilka.

They were returning from Chandigarh when the incident occurred at Bagge Ke Uttar village, 5 km from Jalalabad on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road. Their car hit a stray cattle and the driver lost control over the vehicle, resulting into its collision with a canter coming from the opposite direction. All three of them died on the spot.

Dhuria and his wife had gone to Chandigarh to get their daughter admitted in a college.

Police handed over the bodies of the deceased to their families after postmortem.
