A three-day staff training course on biogas plants will be organised at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) from July 9 to 11.
Officials from the agricultural and horticulture department, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, technicians from Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) and Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) are expected to attend the programme. The directorate of extension education and the department of civil engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU, will jointly coordinate the course.
HS Dhaliwal, director of extension education, said experts would educate trainees about biogas plants, operational parameters of anaerobic digestion in biogas plants, their size, construction and laying of gas pipeline and handling of digested slurry.
Besides, the experts would also throw light on benefits of running diesel engines on biogas, new in-expensive models of biogas plants, and their role in saving the environment, and improvement of biogas production during winter, he said. Emphasis would be laid on field practical training, Dhaliwal added.
