Jammu: Five more persons have tested positive for dengue in the Jammu region, taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease to 57.
Director health services Jammu Dr Baljeet Pathania said, “With five fresh cases detected on Wednesday, the total number of dengue cases now went to 57 in the entire region.”
“Three patients were from Jammu district while one each was from Kathua and Udhampur district,” he said.
“Among the five fresh cases, there are two males, two females and one child,” he added.
He said out of five patients none of them is serious and majority of the patients have returned to their homes after being successfully treated in various hospitals of the Jammu region.
The director health services further informed that on Wednesday blood samples of 28 persons suspected with dengue fever were processed.
On daily basis, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, microbiology laboratory is receiving on an average 20 blood samples for tests.
First case of dengue in the Jammu region came to light on September 2.
