The accused identified as Balwinder Singh, 21, Chamaru village of Patiala, had gone to play music at a marriage party. During the party, he lured the nine-year-old son of a guest to a vacant plot and sodomised him. The victim, thereafter, narrated the whole incident to his parents, following which they lodged a complaint against the accused at Meharban police station.

In his statement to the police, victim’s father, who is a resident of Vardhman Colony, stated that he had come to attend marriage party in Meharban area with his nine-year-old son. Meanwhile, member of the DJ group hired for playing music in the party, lured his son and sodomised him after taking him to a vacant plot, he added.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Bhupinder Kumar, who is investigating the matter, said, “After getting complaint, the police launched a manhunt for his arrest of the accused after lodging an FIR. On Saturday, the police arrested him from the area following a tip-off. The police have booked him under Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC and Section 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The police will produce the accused before court on Sunday.”
