Domestic flights to commence from new airport from Monday

All domestic flights will commence from the new airport terminal building, SAS Nagar, from Monday (October 19). There will be no operations from the old domestic terminal building till further notice.

Chandigarh International Airport Ltd (a subsidiary of the Airports Authority of India) announced the commencement of all domestic flights, including scheduled flights Air India, Jet Airways, Air Asia, Indigo, Spicejet, GoAir and non-scheduled flights, from the newly-constructed integrated airport terminal building from the morning of October 19.

Flight operations from the old terminal building were put on hold from October 15. The new airport building was inaugurated by Prime Minister on September 11. The new airport can be accessed from Aerocity Road from either side — Mohali Sector 66 or Patiala Road.

“The new airport has facilities like two aerobridges, baggage conveyors, 48 ceck-in counters, prepaid taxi counters, snack bars, visitor entry ticket counter, car parking space and facilities for differently-abled passengers,” stated an official statement.

Inside the airport premise, departing passengers shall take elevated path to access the departure hall and arrival is at ground floor.
