Aiming to do investigation in double murder case from the scratch, the six member special investigation team has started the probing the matter of murder of SAD district woman wing president Jaspal Kaur Dharni and her son, on Wednesday.
It should be mentioned the bodies of SAD's district women wing president Jaspal Kaur Dharni(48) and Ajit Singh (23) were recovered in a highly decomposed state on April 21.
Then during investigation, the police claimed that the driver identified as Bakhtawar Singh had allegedly murdered the mother-son duo, for the sake of keeping Dharni's vehicle with himself.
The police claimed that the accused first kidnapped Dharni and then her son on April 9 and 10 respectively.
Trashing the police, theory, Dharni's family members and Bholath MLA Jagr Kaur demanded SIT into the matter, following which chief minister Prakash Singh Badal order to form the investigation team.
On Wednesday, inspector general of Patiala Range Paramjit Singh Gill accompanied by member of SIT conducted thorough inspection at Dharni's residence.
The police also witnessed the spot from where Ajit's deadbody was found.
The cops also interacted with family members and informally questioned them over their suspicion.
Meanwhile, Gill also held meeting with SIT members to chalk out plans for the investigation to follow in coming days.
One of the senior police officer said they have only started preliminary investigation and would look and work on different angles in coming days.
"The confession of the driver will be again crosschecked and the SIT may seek his fresh police remand to investigate the case further", officer said,
Meanwhile, DIG Balkar Singh, who is heading SIT, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
What police theory says
The part-time driver and accused, Bakhtawar, first strangulated Dharni on her way to Patiala from Dhuri by-elections and then threw her dead body in Bhakhra mainline canal on April 9. The accused driver then alleged murdered Dharni's son Ajit on April 10 and dumped his deadbody in one of the bathroom of Dharni's residence and locked the house from outside.
Pertinently, Dharni had close association with Jagir kaur, who played pivotal role in promotion of the former from a simple worker to SAD's district women wing president.
Dharni was having an estranged relationship with her husband, who is presently residing in USA.
Even though the police claimed that he has done the crime due to poverty, then why didn't the accused took gold jewellery worth 1.5 lakh wore by Dharni or touch any article at her house after killing her son along with him.
The police failed to clear that why Dharni went to secluded place with a driver. And how the accused managed to kill Dharni young son and there were struggling marks anywhere in the house
Though police claimed that there was recording between accused and particular person known to Dharni, then why that person failed to report to police about missing of Dharni and son for past 10 days.
At the time of investigation, the police neither find any strangulation mark r injury mark on the dead bodies of the deceased. Even, during post-mortem, the doctors failed to report such mark on the body
Though she was aggressively campaigning for Dhuri by-elections, why no one from SAD come forward to register missing complaint of incumbent district women wing president
DIG Balkar Singh Sidhu along with SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, SP city Pritpal Singh Thind, DSP Rajpura Rajvir Singh Sohal, CIA Incharge Bikramjit Singh and SHO urban estate Puneet Singh Chahal.
