Eve-teasers on Saturday beat up the parents of some girls outside a government school near here after examination.
Annoyed over frequent hooliganism and eve-teasing in the examination days, the villagers of Nangal Kalan in this district then gathered to demand police deployment outside the school.
Two days on, the police are yet to trace the suspects and register any case. They claim they have no complaint. On Saturday, the vulgar elements had got after a girl after her board examination was over at Government Senior Secondary School, Nangal Kalan, centre for candidates from five other schools, including a private institution.
The girl's father objected to the comments and entered a clash with the eve-teasers, who roughed him up. The school authorities called the police and sarpanch. On Monday, the villagers assembled at the school and called for regular patrolling outside.
"Hooligans of Nangal Kalan create nuisance around the school every day," said a villager. "The parents objected only on Saturday."
Sarpanch Jagmail Singh declined to speak on the matter of eve-teasing but accepted some men had thrashed the parents of a few students. "A few days ago, the school authorities had requested for police security."
Jaskaran Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Kot Dharmu, confirmed that the police had registered no case yet. "No one is willing to lodge a complaint, though we have assured the villagers of action," he said. "There were fracas outside the school on Saturday but even the school principal denied there had been any eve-teasing."
Police patrolling was on already, said the SHO, adding that on the day of the incident, the entire police force of the jurisdiction was deployed at Heero Kalan.
