The committee has decided to highlight the demand of OROP for the veterans, who have sacrificed their lives to protect the sovereignty and sanctity of the country by serving in areas such as Siachen and other remote areas of Tezpur and Agartala in northeast.

Prabhjot Singh Chhatwal, coordinator of the committee, said during his visit to Siachen, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had seen the condition in which the soldiers live and fight for the nation.

“We are also not unmindful of the effort made and pain taken by the defence minister to understand our viewpoint regarding our long-pending demand of OROP, but why such delay in implementing it,” he said.
