Farmer kills wife, mother-in-law by throwing them in canal in Punjab

A 28-year-old farmer from Muktsar district of Punjab killed his wife and mother-in-law yesterday by throwing both of them in canal for having strained relations with his wife.

When the farmers in the adjoining fields came to know about it they rushed to the spot and pulled both the bodies out, police said here today.



The villagers also nabbed the farmer, Amrik Singh.



After thrashing him, they informed the police and handed him over to them.Bodies were sent for post-mortem, police added.



Police investigation reveals that couple, married for about 4-5 years, had a three-year-old daughter.



Due to strained relations, Amrik took this step.



According to SSP, Gurmeet Singh Randhawa, police registered a case under section 302 IPC against the


accused .
