The case was registered against him on a complaint filed by a woman at the city police station in Gurdaspur on August 3.

Police sources say the controversial cop, who is now posted as assistant commandant of Punjab Armed Police (PAP) at Jalandhar, was also booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The first information report (FIR) was registered against Salwinder under Section 376-C (sexual intercourse by person in authority) of the Indian penal Code following an inquiry conducted by Pathankot SP (headquarters) GS Khurana, into the pending complaint of a woman, who had accused Salwinder of exploiting her, police sources said.
