It was inaugurated by CMCH director Dr AG Thomas on Friday.

The new endoscopic instrument with high resolution/definition will be handy in getting quality images and great accuracy in diagnosis.

The technology also includes narrow band imaging (NBI), which uses short wavelength blue light which is reflected from the surface of mucosal tracts. It discriminates between the normal and abnormal tissues, especially in cancer patients.

The blue light NBI is advancement over the conventional white light endoscopy, which is routinely available.

The inauguration ceremony was preceded by a prayer meeting.

At the inaugural meeting, Dr Thomas mentioned the story behind of financial contributions made by friends of Ludhiana Society, Dr Keithine and his colleagues in the UK.

He thanked all of them for their kind assistance in the welfare of patients seeking care at the hospital.

The faculty members and staffs of the gastroenterology department were also present on the occasion.
