Honour killing: Rohtak man alleges his wife killed by her parents

The police have registered a case of murder against four people, including mother and father of the deceased.

In an alleged case of honour killing at Ballah village of Karnal district, a 24-year-old man from Rohtak claimed his 19-year-old wife was murdered by her family members as she married him against their will.

The police have registered a case of murder against four people, including mother and father of the deceased, and started investigations.

Monu from Makroli village of Rohtak filed a complaint at Assandh police station that his wife Jyoti was murdered by her father on Saturday and their family then cremated her body. Monu also gave a copy of their marriage certificate to the police and alleged that the parents of his wife had murdered her for honour.

In his complaint, Monu told said he had married Jyoti, a BCom second year student of Government Women college of Karnal in a court in Delhi on March 14. She had told him that her parents will not allow this marriage and they decided not to disclose this to anybody for next few more days and she went back to her village after marriage.

He added,“Later I tried to talk to her father Rajesh over phone and he told him that she has been killed.”

Monu said, “We belong to the same community and but I don’t know why they killed her.”

Karnal SP Surender Bhoria said, “Victim’s father Rajesh Kumar, her mother, two cousins Satish and Vicky have been booked for murder under Section 302 of IPC,

“However, the village residents told the police that she had committed suicide. We are investigating the matter”, he added.
