The local police have booked a Jalandhar resident for allegedly threatening a city-based doctor over phone and posting lewd pictures on his matrimonial website account.
The accused has been identified as Jaskaran Singh of New Vijay Nagar of Jalandhar.The Sadar police station registered a case against him under sections 66A and 67 of the Information Technology Act and sections 292 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In his complaint, Dr Prateek Kaushal of Urban Estate Extension, alleged that Singh was threatening him through text messages for the past few days. He said he had recently met an Amritsar girl on a matrimonial website, adding that Singh hacked his profile on the website and posted lewd pictures on it.
The case was registered after an inquiry conducted by Gurpreet Singh, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) of Ludhiana Gill area.
Dr Kaushal had filed the complaint on June 12 to deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Harsh Bansal, who had marked the enquiry to ACP Singh.Sub-inspector (SI) Amandeep Singh Brar, station house officer (SHO) at Sadar police station, said the police had launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
