Ludhiana man among 2, 17 buffaloes in mishap in Moga

Police said 17 more buffaloes, which were being carried by the truck involved in the accident, were seriously injured. The injured buffaloes were rushed to the Moga veterinary hospital by villagers of the nearby areas.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Harjinder Singh, 44, a resident of Ranike village in Ludhiana, and Chamkeela Singh, 39, a resident of Homuhar in Fatehabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Baldev Singh, assistant sub inspector of Ajitwal police station, said the truck driver, Harjinder Singh, was carrying 34 buffaloes and was on his way to Rajpura from Tarn Taran.

“When he reached near Matwani village, a speeding canter coming from the opposite side collided with his truck, because of which both the drivers and 17 buffaloes died on the spot,” he said.

He added that a case had been registered and investigations were underway.
